Board of Education

The voters of the district elect each of the seven members of the Carthage Central School District Board of Education.

Board members serve for three-year terms without pay and are responsible under state law for establishing the policies governing the operation of the Carthage Central School District.

Regular meetings of the Board of Education are held on a Monday evening beginning at 6:00 p.m. (see meeting schedule for dates and location). The Board provides opportunities for members of the community to speak during the public forum at the beginning of the meeting. Any person wishing to speak during this time shall comply with all provisions of Board of Education Policy.  We remind you to keep your comments to three minutes and to conduct yourself respectfully.  Please address school matters only and refrain from addressing topics related to personnel matters or individual students.  Such concerns should be discussed privately with the Superintendent or administrator at an appropriate time.  The Board is here to listen and cannot provide immediate feedback or engage in open dialogue.  Any necessary follow up will be noted and provided at a later date. The public is invited to attend all meetings of the Board on those dates listed on the calendar.

Board of Education decisions affect the education of all our children as well as the well being of our community. The Board can better represent the constituents when members of the community take the time to observe the Board in action, ask questions and express opinions. The Board is pleased to have residents at the meetings and encourages participation.

Board of Education meeting schedule is available on Boarddocs.
